Well here is the short story. The power steering fluid is full. It doesnt leak. It works just fine when the car is cold. The longer I drive and the hotter the engine gets the harder it gets to steer. Would I be correct by saying the power steering pump is broke?

I would reccomend agianst the manual box. It's just not fitting in anything other then a pure drag car.

However, if you want to do the conversion, a steering box from a early 4cyl s-10 with manual steering is a bolt in. I dont think there were ever thirdgens w/o power steering. Be warned though, the s-10 box is something like 5 or 6 turns lock to lock.

And with those big fat tires everyone has, it'll be a real bustard to turn at low speed.

I traded for my manual box, out of an 84 S10 (my brother in laws) I have seen some at the salvage yard go for as little as $10. I took the IROC for a spin with the manual box and it wasn't to bad. I am going with a smaller tire up front to ease the steering a bit. Trying to get my head and cam change done first!
