Power steering pump- low pressure hose- what kind of hose is it?
Hey guys, found a 2.8 with a power steering pump in it yesterday... the yard I went to only had 4 f-bodies, two with v6's, two with missing v8's. Seems the V8's are popular this month! (And around central NJ, from my first junkyard crawln in '95 to today, I've only seen one V8 TPI motor in a junkyard.)
Anyway, got the pump, stupid thing was a rebuilt one, I wanted GM original, but for $30 I can't argue. At least it'll get me by until I can find an original. (How could mine have lasted 237,000 miles and these other car's didn't? Unless it's because I actually check my p/s fluid level, haha)
The pump looked like it had a new high-pressure hose on it, so I took that too. The low pressure hose looked old; I left it. But I'd like to replace mine, on my car.. it looks like crap! What kind of hose do I use? Is this a special hose? Or do I just find fuel hose and use that? Looks like it's attached with regular old screw-type hose clamps.
Thanks!
Oh and any suggestions for a "flushing" procedure? I envisioned me just dumping the pump's reservoir out, pouring some new fluid in, spinning the pulley, and then dumping the new fluid out. Is there a better way?
