1984 Q-Jet on a LG4
This LG4 is all stock and everthing is hooked up. And it seems to be running really rich. Does anyone know how i can fix this and what might be causeing it . and can it be adjusted by drilling out the covers to the adj. screws (like I had to do back in the good old days) I have a 1984 Trans Am WS6 with a LG4 cowl induction.
any help would be greatly appreciated. :hail:

Yes you can drill the plugs out. But the mix is set at the factory and should be correct, while the electronic circuit on the front of the carb should be controlling things as well.
Probably it is time for a rebuild.

If I rebuild it would their be a need to adjust it or will the factory setting stay where they need to be and Im thinking if they stay maybe i should drill them anyway just in case one of these day I do need to adjust them . but I would think that during a rebuild that it would need to be readjusted!
Before you start drilling and hammering and swearing, and firing dollars at it, I would strongly suggest you buy a year specific factory service manual and follow the diagnostic procedures the factory recommends.
They built it and probably know how to fix it better than most.
But that is just my opinion and I could be wrong.
If you are interested, using the procedures outlined in the manual, you may want to check the dwell of the m/c solenoid, tps adjustment, and even the o2 sensor.

Jeff's advice sounds good.
For more take your Q to the Carb board and ask Damon, F-Bird'88 and five7kid their opinions. They know QJets pretty well
