Darn Fuel Pump
I think the fuel pump in my GTA shat the bed on the way into town yesterday.
I was driving along at about 65 mph when all of a sudden my car tried to die when my foot was on the pedal but idled ok when I'd lift off the gas....for about a minute. Then it died and wouldn't re-start. It'll fire up run for a second or two then die. What do y'all think? My vote is fuel pump or pressure requlator. Regulators usually don't just crap out though.... I did "run the car out of gas" (hard corner, low fuel level, fuel pump sucked some air)
about a month ago and I have no idea if the pump is Delco, or crappy Checker. I'll get the car home tonite and check the fuel pressure, and go form there I guess.

When you check the fuel pressure, if it's low, try pinching off the fuel return line with a set of vice grips to see if the pressure goes up. This is the easiest way to pinpoint a bad fuel pressure regulator. Also try jumping the pump at the ALDL connector. It's possible the pump isn't coming on due to some other factor, such as a faulty oil pump switch. Good luck.
And no problem with the GTA centercaps.

turn the key forward as if you where going to roll your windows up. as you turn the key, listen to see if the fuel pump turns on. if you get no sound from the backof the car then oviously the pump isnt working. check for bad relay(not sure how). as stated before, check for a faulty oil pressure switch, you must cheack everything, the last thing you want to do is change the pump and still have a problem.

Thank you all for your help. I've checked everything, and get this. The pump does run like it's supposed to, but is putting out 0 PSI (yes thats 0 PSI). I verified this with my Snap-On fuel pressure tester kit. So I called my local Chevy dealer an got a pump, strainer sock, and noise isolator (little foam sleeve that goes over the pump so it's not so loud) for $93. I guess that pretty much says what I'm doing this Sat.
