blown 383 stroker

Me and my dad have been thinking about building a 383 with the vortech blower for carbs. I have a couple questions. Do you have to use forged pistons, and should you buy a brand new crank. What do you think the total cost of building an engine like that woul be without the blower because I know that runs for 2400 non polished.thanks

You'll need a forged bottom end for the blower.
Also need to keep compression down around 8:1
You'll be spending at least $2K on the bottom end, probably more like $3-4K if you use the good stuff.

to drop compression should I use heads with bigger chambers to lower compression and do you think this project would be worth it.

a few issues back, hot rod had the vortech blower on the cover. they say you can use it with as much as a 9.5:1 compression with 6lbs of boost. but id try to keep it under 9:1.
