win I got my 84 305 H.O. motor for my motor swap,
It did not have a distributor
so I put a 1979 350 hei distributor in my motor
the distributor is out of a truck
do I have to put in 305 ho weights and springs in the distributor ?

No you don't have to change them. Get it up and running first and get your base timing set, then go back and see what timimg you have. If you don't have enough then start working with the weights and springs.

i believe you'd need a distributor for the ecm controls and not a non ecm controled one like you have.

If it's really an L69 with the original carb and the computer, he's going to need a CCC distributor. If it was really an LG4, or if it was an L69 and the carb has been changed it won't be CCC and that distributor will be fine.
