Pontiac 2.8 on Sandrail
Pontiac 2.8 on Sandrail
Hoorah I started the 2.8 engine on my sandrail today. After all the work, it was music to my ears. I spent the rest of the afternoon tucking away all the wires to and from the ECM.
All this compter controled engines are new to this old man. I need to know how to hook up the engine to the coolant temp guage, the oil pressure guage, and the volt meter. On the wiring diagram I have, it does not show guages. I'm suspect the '89 Grand Prix the engine is out of had lights.
Any assistance is appreciated.

P.S. The sandrail had a VW engine that I'm replacing with the Pontiac V6. The sandrail has a Volt meter, a oil pressure guage, and a oil temp guage. All are electric. I know what wire feeds each of the guages, i just don't know what wire from the engine to attach them to.
depends if you have eletric or mechanical gauges, well the volt or amp gauge would be eletric no matter what. the oil preasure and temp i think would both feed off whereever the oil sender is on the v6 and the other gauge would go to the alternator. like was already said i'd just buy a set of autometer gauges and you'd have all the parts, senders, and you'd know everything was made to work together. i'd also get a temp gauge.

Just need a used VW and and adapter plate.
