My car has developed a very wierd knocking noise the last 2 days. It only happens when im about 2000 rpm's or higher. I had just installed a dual snorkel air cleaner and adjusted my fuel pressure, but the car ran fine the first few days.
It sounds like it's coming from the passenger side engine compartment. Maybe there is an exhaust leak? I checked most of the bolts but there was one that was broken, does anyone think it's just something rattling around now?

 

An exhaust leak will not create a knocking noise, that will make more of a ticking and it will become more frequent with higher rpms. It will likely be noticable at idle, too. Have you tried backing off your timing or running higher octane fuel? You raised your fuel pressure, right? Do you have an aftermarket chip?

 

i have the timing advanced to 6 degrees two months ago when i did my cam change. the car had ran perfectly so far and then one day its was making wierd noises. it sounds like the exhaust leak i had a few months ago, but i cant feel air escaping anywhere.
i put in 93 octane to see if that helped and it did nothing. when i looked at my car today, the PCV valve was out, i think i knocked it out when i took off the air cleaner to change my fuel pressure. maybe i hit something else too that would make a ticking or knocking noise
