I am building an 86 sport coupe.I am on a limited budget.THis car isn't my daily driver so that is not a concern.WHen I bought the car it had a 350 in it.IT wasn't the original motor and ran like poo.I pulled the motor and tranny out and found the block had a giant crack in it.THe trans was shifting horribly as well.


RIght now I have a couple choices.MY buddy has a complete 350 4 bolt main.(I check the pan is off of it)Minus intake and carb for 300 bucks.He said they pulled it out of a running car.I didn't pull the heads off to see if there was a ridge there or not.


I also know where I can buy an old impala that is all rusted out for 100 bucks with a 350/th350.Again I don't know the condition of the motor or anything.

I have some vortec heads that I am going to throw on it.I and plan on using an edelbrock Airgap vortec intake with some kind of holley carb.Also not sure on the cam grind either.BUt will be using comp cams stamped 1.6 ratio rockers.


So what do U guys think I should do?Any Idea's or info would be great.

I am going to give alittle more info on what I am going to do with the car.It isn't going to be street driven at all.There are to many emissions in my county.


I am going to use a 350 I know that.Not sure on the trans yet.If I do get the impala I will have the th350 rebuilt with a transgo shift kit.I took out all the seats.(except the drivers)And the stereo as well as the spare tire.

I plan on using a 3000 stall convertor matched to the cam and then finding a rearend at a junkyard that is either the right gear ratio or close to the gear that matches the convertor and cam.I am going to put v6 springs in the front as well as some drag struts and rebuild the brakes and install linelocks.I am going to get subrame connectors and and rebuild the rear suspension and brakes also.



I am on a limited budget and am still needing to get my truck painted and stuff.I just want to get it going.
