V6 & V8 A/C Compressors ???

Engine: L98 (350 TPI)
Transmission: MD8 (700 R4) + 3.42 LS1 Rear
V6 & V8 A/C Compressors ???
what are the differences between the V6 MPFI 2.8 A/C compressor and the V8 TPI A/C compressor? the 2.8 compressors are plentiful around here. can it be made to work on an V8TPI? the damn rebuilts suck *** and a new one is just out of my reach right now. thanks for any help and/or suggestions
