Rebuild vs. crate
Rebuild vs. crate
Which is more cost effective rebuilding a 350 with new every thing heads, headers, gaskets, pistons, etc. Or just droping a crate into it. Keep in mind I want it to pass inspection in VA and I will be doing all the work by my self and some help from a few of my buddies. If I do rebuild what sould I do? New heads, camshafts, please tell me what I should do. I want the car to have around 300-350 rwhp. I also really don't what to run Nitros Oxide. Just because I have heard some pretty brutal stories. Is that possible on a $2000 budget. And do you think it would be possible for a couple of 18 year olds to rebuild an engine in a few days during the summer?
Thanks a lot

I wouldnt say a few days.youn can get a short block crate motor in your price range add a few uprdes and have the power your looking for.If you rebuild you have to at least hone the block for new rings and ive seen rebuilds kits as low as 299.00.figure in the heads and everything plus time to it.a crate motor can get you going quicker.

Don't forget about the warrantee you get with crate motors.
Build it youself if you want tight tolerances, & custom bottom end parts. I hope you have a little experience cause theres no warrantee this way.
Good Luck,
Ron
