NEED HELP PLEASE! Wheel backspacing!
NEED HELP PLEASE! Wheel backspacing!
I am kinda in a hurry. But my problem is. I ought some rims and tires off of a 94 Formula, and the front tires dont have the same back-spacing as the original wheels. y question is this. How would I change backspacing to 94 formula specs? Do I need to buy new rotors? Do I need to buy formula spindles? Or can I buy some cheap wheel spacers at autozone until I can. Just for specs, the original wheel backspacing was 4.5 inches and the new ones are 6.5 inches. So it hits my tierods. And I need those.
Anyways, please help yall I have already told a guy that I am selling my old rims to him, so I dont want to dissapoint him. Thank ya much.

Also, one more thing. explain to me how this will work. Logic says I need to put a 1 3/4" to 2" spacer on each side. how am I going to have any bolt left? thanks again.
*EDIT* just checked that guys site. $139 for wheel spacers. that is almost more than I paid for the rims. Damnit, this is ot turning out good. Is there a way, I could purchase some 94 formula front end components to make the wheels fit? Obviously something is different, whether it be the rotor, the spindle, but something is different. Anyways, laters.

For one, the front suspensions on 93 and newer (4th gen) Camaros and Firebirds is completely different from the 3rd gen suspensions. $th gen F-Body's have a dual a-arm/wishbone front suspension. The steering knuckle, rotors, brakes, and other stuff won't fit on thirgens. Even if they did fit, it would cost a lot more than $139 per wheel to get those parts.
As far as I know, you have to use those spacers if you want to run 4th gen wheels on your thirdgen. The spacers bolt onto you wheel studs first, then the wheels bolt to the spacers. They have their own studs.
Good luck,
Dave

If you are willing to wait a few weeks I will sell you my spacers. I just bought a new rear and don't need the spacers anymore. Just waiting for the rear to be shipped. I was told it would arrive in early October.
And unless you already have a 4th gen rear or aftermarket rear, you will need spacers for the back too.
The spacers are only a month old... I could do $120 shipped for one set
