redish coolant
redish coolant
ok, why would my coolant turn redish brown? it was like that before i replaced the radiator and its still like that... and now im having reallllly reaaaaaally irritating heating problems anyone?
I trust you completely flushed the cooling system when you replaced the radiator, right?
What type of coolant did you use to refill the system?
If the system was flushed and you used the customary green-dyed polyethylene/glycol based coolant, the reddish color is likely from rust formation in the case and heads. If that's the your situation, you need to flush the system using a cleaner, neutralizer, and then thoroughly rinse. After a thorough flush you can refill with coolant mixture and forget about it for three more years.
If you used a silicate-free PEG coolant like DexCool, it has an orange dye in stead of green, so the color can be shocking if you didn't expect it. Also, adding DexCool to a green-dyed collant can change the color to a reddish-brownish-orange.

hmmm, i cant remember, i took it to get it flushed, and they said my radiator was probably blown, because when they tried to do it....i just remembered some guy getting a giant stream of burning fluid shot on him, its been about a year since ive had my car, but yeah a flush would probably help
