Welcome aboard.
Mark is the local postwhore here at thirdgen.org. It's no surprise that he got to you first. You'll find that he purposely misses parts of your post so he can come back later and add another post to his count, so if you need an answer to a few questions expect a few posts from him.

As far as the ticking sounds you'll want to make sure your oil level is high enough and that oil is actually getting up into the valve covers. Of course you'll want to check the valve lash as well.

Pop-ups are no problem with popup stopper(except sometimes a pesky ad can get through something else), but it's nice to not have them anyway.

Thats cool,

I know all about post *****'s from other sites Anyhow, the oil pressure was a constant 20-25psi maybe touching 30psi, is this good with a warm engine. Usually I would accept that on any other SBC, but is there anything special witht the LG4?

Thanks

First off, rezinn is our local smart azz.

A good rule of thumb is 10 psi for every 1000 rpms.

Once my engine is warm cruising it's normally at 25 psi.

make sure the "valve tick" your hearing isn't an exhuast leak before you drive yourself nuts trying to adjust the valves over and over again...

Oh and just a heads up, in a couple weeks when you ask the question "which exhaust sounds best?" Mark will be the first to reply, and he'll say Hooker. But don't listen to him, cause the Edelbrock is better

Welcome aboard, thats a nice lookin firebird you got there, any plans for it?

Eric

I am SO relieved.... I went and picked up the car and gave half money up front ($600). So it is ticking really bad! When I got home, I took off the passenger side valve cover (pain in the ***), and found a "limp" rocker arm, just dancing around like he had no place to go. So my question now, what do I adjust them too and how, I am a bit rusty on valve lash, haven't done it in a LONG time. Also, have any of you converted to roller tip rockers or 1.6? If so any increase? I wanna know before I put this PITA valve cover back on, thanks, Oh yeah, also, the pushrod is a little smoothed out on one side (worn) it is not terrible but where can I get just one pushrod?
