Can I use An Elec. Fuel Pump on our cars???

Is it possible for me to use a holley/carter/ any aftermarket elecric fuel pump on my car??? What do I do with the return line???? I need a new pump, I figure I might as well go electric and get the Holley one that doesn't need a regulator.

I know it's not safe to cap the return line and I do not want to remove it because I may need it later.

i'm running a holley blue fuel pump. I have heard that these things die within short amounts of time but i haven't driven my car for more than 30 minutes straight due to some problems .....but i have heard some people kill them right away and some last a LONG time. I guess it really matters on whether it's a daily driver or not. I have heard that the carter pumps were made for continuous use and could feasibly be used for a daily driver....good luck

the problem I tend to have is the pump will loose prime

I have to put a garden hose on the end and start a siphon if it sits for more than a couple of days. The pump needs to sit below the tank sump and thats pretty difficult to find a mounting point that low on a 3rd gen.

Note about electric pump noise....

....I searched around for this info can couldn't find it, so I wanted to post my experience...

The Holley Blue pump is LOUD. I mounted mine to the wall behind the driver side rear seat, and didn't have problems with fuel supply, but the pump was very loud. I replaced the inside-the-tank pump with a straight tube, and let the blue pump pull through that. It worked fine.

I did as much research as I could, and finally took a chance and bought a Mallory Comp 110 pump. I'm happy to report that it is about a thousand times quieter. Seriously, it's a lot quieter.

The blue pump never failed, and in fact I'm still using it for a nitrous pump. I cannot comment on the durability of the Mallory as yet, because it simply hasn't been installed that long yet.
