You connect positive to positive, then connect the negative to the live battery and the other negative to the 83Z engine. You can actually connect postive directy to postive and negative to negative but it is not recommended because of the hydrogen gas produced by the battery. The hydrogen could explode.

Could explode?? Argh, I thought it had something to do with frying the computer in EFi cars??

I actually did try it this way, but it made NO difference in the batterys starting attempts.. But when I completely swap the batterys over, it starts fine... I have no idea whats going on.
