Hey all I was driving home today and I feel the car start to miss a little then I lost all power, as the car was costing to the side of the highway I would push the gas and BOOM backfire out of the exhaust........only when I would push on the gas. The motor kept running and sputtering. Then all at once it started getting better and the sputtering went away. SES lightcame on and I was back to full power.


Its a 89 IROC with 305 TPI....... EGR? Computer? any Ideas???

It could be your MAF sensor , try unpluging it and see how the car runs without it .

 

And what is the error code?

 

I knew you were going to ask that Vader I have a scan tool coming soon (2 to 3 days) I know I was getting a EGR code before this happened. I just purchased a Auto X Ray.

Good idea but I have no smog junk......I drove it for about an hour this evening and it ran like a TOP? I don't know maybe it just had to burp??
