What would u do?

If you had about 3,500 to 4,00 dollars to spend on a thirdgen wht would u do? would u buy a nice car with maybe some miles and the orginal motor like a late 90's iroc or 91z28 or would u buy a rolling chassis and put the 300 hp crate motor from gm in it, i forget what its called? and would 3,500 dollars be enough to do something like that?

If I only had 4 grand I wouldnt think about taking on a project like that. I'd look for a well maintained late thirdgen that is mostly stock and wasnt butchered by some kid. Or you could always pick up one that has been, for about the same money. You have a good chance of going very fast in it for a few passes.

First, you can't be in a hurry. That good thirdgen that will be what you really want is out there. People come on here every week showing the nice deal they found. With the economy being so flat, no one is getting what they want for a thirdgen.

So take your time and look around. You may find it the first time you look. But if 4 grand is your limit, look it over REALLY well before handing over the cash.

Exactly, I mean this is sort of related, recently I had been lookin for heads. I know at times people got mad at seein me ask questions all the time to see me say Yeah, I'll get those, then change my mind.

Well, it paid off, I found an awesome deal on aluminum heads for only $870 shipped fully assembled. So take your time.

I'd go for a car with a straight body, I would just find a high milage one with good body, no rust, that runs ok , then save up for a new motor.

Camaro under 4 grand

Finding a good f-body for under 4 grand can be done but its gonna take awhile. I got mine for 2400 with a little bit of body damage and 65,000 miles. Just try not to get in a rush I looked for my IROC for 3 years before I found the one I wanted. As far as mods go stick to stuff that you can use with a new engine.
