Timing Question "look Inside"
Timing Question "look Inside"
Ok guys here's what i got 383 miniram 30lbs svo inj afr 195's custom ground 248/254@.50 dur and .600 lift in .580 exh using 1.6rron in 1.5on exh. I have noticed glowing headers at night after i drive for a little while when i let it idle the glow slowly goes away. I checked the timing at idle which i have idle set for 1000rpm and the scan tool showed 26deg. Is this normal? base timing is supposed to be set at 10 deg. ps. I also have a ed wright custom burn chip. I appreciate ant advice thanks guys.!!!:hail:

Glowing headers is normally running lean if timing isn't an issue. Your chip would needs to we way off tune wise for the computer to be unable to compensate for this. If your BLM was pegged at 160 when the o2 detected still detected the motor needs more fuel I would think it would set a code 44. I would try to get it on a scanner. BTW, to answer your question, 26deg at idle with the timing connector plugged in seems normal to me and the ECM should read anything with it unplugged but I may be wrong there.

Glowing headers indicates fuel burning in the exhaust.
The causes are: late ignition timing, lean airfuel ratio, rich airfuel ratio. You'd best go through the timing again.
