L98 head flow

What CC are stock, cast iron L98 heads and what factory size valves came in them? I am asking as I may be getting a used set of them cheap, needing rebuilding, and was thinking of doing some homebrewed port work on them, then swapping them for the stock 882's I have on my truck motor now. My current CR with the 76cc 882's is about 8.5/1

Go to the chevy hi-performance website, they have flow numbers for those heads.

They flow OK but can be made much better with a little bowl work and porting and polishing. About 200 cfm in the .400 to .500 range. You can get them up around 235 cfm. Just follow the link at the end of my sig

So in other words, not a bad deal. I'd be getting them free for the hauling with some other stuff, and before I waste any time working on them I'll have them tanked and magnetic inspected for cracks. Ten between your link and my Dec '01 issue of CAR CRAFT which also has a very good article on head porting I'll be getting out the rotary tool and going to town!
