who has the comp 282 roller cam?
who has the comp 282 roller cam?
im looking at the comp 282 hydrolic roller cam... 230/236 duration, 510/520 lift, 110 lobe separation... would this be too much for a daily driver? i think the duration is a bit long for a daily driver... but im not sure, what about vacuum? contemplating putting this or the next step down if the 282 is too radical, which is the 276, 224/230 duration, 502/510 lift, 110 lobe separation. comments on either of these? in a daily driven 350 or 383... not sure if we are going to stroke it or not... oh yea, are we gonna get like 4 mpg? hhehehe

I have it in a 400, with 1.6 rockers & double-hump heads, it was my daily driver for some time... got about 18 mpg on the highway... it had plenty of vacuum and all that... can't say what it would be like in a 350 though, it was about all the cam my otherwise mild 400 could stand... it ran a little bit ahead of a 2000 Z28 SS on the street, before I fixed the traction problems, so I'd say it was a decent runner for as little as the motor had.

heres ya that cam with a 112 lsa for streetability and it's ground with a small base circle for stroker motors!!!
grind no: cs3315s-3316s-hr112+4
***warning*** if ya stoke it i will give you fair warning to stay away from scat rods!!!! even with that cam in my 383 i'm having to grind the rods on certain cylinders for clearence......
rb, and others warned me but i didn't heave it until it was too late... i guess thats the preice ya pay for going cheap......
good luck and i hope it works out great for ya

oh yea.....
it's more streetable than most big cams....... i posted a sound clip of the regular comp xe282hr file with the factory 110* lsa..... search my name for posts and find the one on the "xe236-242 too big???"
now with a 112* lsa it will most defanantly have more vaccum because it will have less overlap.... the downside is with a solid motor "383" the max hp will be like 450hp, but torque will be 400lbs at like 2000rpm and peak tq will be well over 500lbs near 4000rpm.....
looking back i wish i just stayed with a 355 and not had to worry about clearancing and stuff.... i could be driving mine now if it weren't for that.....
