Removing mechanical fan for winter

I just removed for the winter, my thermostatic cluch mechanical fan i was running on my 82 Z28. My car runs so much better. Get gets up to temperature faster and runs at 200 degrees. I now get heat instead of warm. Will this harm anything. It won't be getting over 40 here for a long time and snow is comming.

i would only be worried about the car sitting idle for a long period of time and heating up. but i bet in 40* weather it would take a long time for it to do that. and all u would have to do is get going again. just keep a good eye on the temp..

i got a friend who has a 2001 neon, burned up his fan some how.. wiring caught on fire. suprisingly it happend after he took his car offroading.. and he hasn't had a fan in the past month in a half. no problems yet. just stay out of slow stop and go traffic.

Ya...you need to have a fan...better alternative would be to use a higher temp Tstat.

I'd put the fan back in and run a 195 Tstat if the heater is the issue. Without a fan during low speeed/no speed, there's no flow across the radiator...temps raise fairly quickly. You could be setting yourself up for some serious wrenching soon

I had an electric fan on my truck for a couple of years before using it for the race car. In the winter time it never came on unless I was sitting in traffic for a long time.
