a lot of people switch from tpi to carb usually only if something goes wrong with the tpi. The carb is not any better, but a carb is simply cheaper to buy and cheaper to upgrade. carb manifolds only run about 100-150 bucks (not polished). where the tpi manifold runs around 350-400 bucks and you're brand of manifold options are limited. A lot of people change the TBI to a carb. the throttle body injection isn't nearly as good as tuned portinjection. Most people leave tuned ports alone. Tpi is a hell of a system.
