Both have their strong and weak points.
You'll get better mpg with TPI for one.
If you want a high revving engine go with carb, or look into other FI's.

If you want a reliable, easy to drive car that can make lots of torque stick with your TPI.
The carb is favored for people who want to break into the 12 second bracket in the quarter mile and for some people who just don't like TPI, but my choice for reasonable power combined with a drivable, reliable car that you want to spend time driving, stick with TPI.
There's another link that discusses some of the issues on the front page of this tech board.

What's in it now? what kind of condition is it in? what is your personal definition of "fast" and "reliable"? do you have a budget? All of these sorts of things impact that decision.
fast=enjoyable fast im not looking to blaze up the track, but fast enough that i can cause some trouble on the turn pike
reliable=i don't have to fear starting my car on a cold day in the morning
i'm having trouble finding a good engine...part of me wants to shell out 5grand and get the fast burn 385 engine...
but im not sure which way to go yet...i need something that is fast, but not ridiculous..i'd be happy with around 275 horses
