oil guage problems
i have ultra lite autometer guages in my car. the oil pressure guage is going crazy. when driving around it stay at about 40 psi but when i stop the neddle goes to zero then it sneeks back up to 15 psi. i need an oil change 3000 miles between right now. im thinking somethings is clogging the sending unit pinhole. anyone have any similar problems. any help is appreciated.
Thanx in advance Brian
p.s im getting an oil change tomorrow as soon as i wake up

Lets see-
i had the exact same problem on my car when I got it. Here is an idea- But 5qts of real cheap oil, flush the system, and then proceed with some nice clean new oil- that should take care of the problem or else you have a loose oil pressure sender-

well i had only 3 qts in the sump
somehow my engine is going thru 10w-30. the motor is only 1 yr old. the guage is working fine now because of the oil change. should i try something else other than 10w-30

sorry-
Hey, I am real sorry to hear that.
WHAT I WOULD DO is replace the motor after I am sure I am burning oil and it is not leaking out somewhere. Check leaks first. Depending if it is a daily driver or a mess around car that is used only a few times a year, I guess you could dump some of that liquid ring sealer stuff like "RESTORE" and cross your fingers. Personally, I would just replace it if it got that far-
