Failed fuel pump

My fuel pump just took a **** on me. Zero fuel pressure at the injectors. Power going to the thing, but no fuel comes out, no noise.

How much is this gonna cost me to have fixed?

A new AC/Delco pump and pickup strainer (inlet filter) just recently set me back $102.00 from the local Checvy dealer's parts counter( about two weeks ago). The rest is just time.

Incidentally, I took out a Carter pump that had lasted about a year from that vehicle. I wouldn't install anything but an OEM pump unless you need a lot more fuel flow than 200lb/hr.

Thanks, Vader. I just got a call from the shop and they quoted a replacement GM OEM pump for a little over $100, and 5 hours labor to drop the tank and install the thing. Sounds like they're doing it right instead of cutting up the car like a butcher.

The original pump went 135k miles and 14 years, so it must be decent. They said it would be done tomorrow night. Merry Christmas, another friggin' expense, I just had to have the heater core replaced in the Wife's Escort. Both cars died at the same time, I had to rent a wreck to get to work today. Sheesh.

Yeah, I do what I can, but I don't have access to the facilities to cut the exhaust and drop the tank. I took the car to a local independent repair shop, the dealer is too friggin' expensive.

just did this. you only have to cut the exhaust if it's welded to the cat. OTW just unbolt at the cat. did mine in my garage in 6 hrs with air tools. it's not all that bad. there are good instrux on this site if you search. the filler neck is VERY irritating. >:\
