AFR 190 and fan switch....

I'm looking for people who are using a set of 190's and a Hyertech fan switch. I took out the stock switch and replaced it with a Hyertech pt.#4026. Problem is it bottoms out in the water jacket before it tightens up. The Hypertech piece is about 1/2 inch longer than the stock one is. Anybody ever run into this and what did you do? I called Hypertech. The guy said he never had anyone call with that problem before. Any ideas? Thanks

Gary

Get rid of it! I do not have the hypertech swtich, but what i did was splice into the wire on teh passengers side and run it to a switch inside the drivers compartement. Does the exact same thing...turns the second fan on when i want to!

yeah im with raiden, but i spliced the wires from the relays and sent em to switches on the driver side underneath the headlight switch. it works great as long as you dont cut corners and use cheap connectors and try to avoid soldering, i just used cheap cpnnectors and twisted wires and i overheated a few times because bumps knocked my wires around too much untill i just soldered and used good connectors but yeah just make your own switches....

Well, whether you splice into the wiring or move the sensor to another location, you're still left with the original problem..that IMHO, is a problem with the heads...

Where you install the sensor should have been tapped with an NPT thread. This is a tapered thread, and you should not be able to "bottom" it out (assuming you didn't gorilla it in there).

My guess is the guy at AFR doing the tapping into the head, went way too far, and now there is no "taper".

The reason I mention this is you'll have (or should unless the sensor is FUBAR) problem if you try to plug the hole with a standard NPT plug fitting.

Contact AFR, see what they say.

As a side note, adding spacers/washers would not be an option on an NPT fitting.
