My 700r4 just started shifting wierd. It was rebuilt about 10,000 miles ago. HELP
My trans has always shifted good, and I have put about 10,000 miles on it. The trans was just rebuilt before I bought the car, SO it only has about 10,000 after the rebuild. Just yesterday it started shifting wierd like it want's to hold it in gear. I remember someone saying somethin about you are supposed to change the filter after a certain amount of mileage after a fresh rebuild, but couldn't quite remember how many miles it was. COuld my filter be clogged and this be what is causing the problem, or do you guys think it is somethin else. I want to go get the filter changed, I would do it myself but I don't have a lift or ramps and have never done one before. Is it hard, or should I just take it to the shop to get it changed. Is there any shops you guys recommend??? I want to get a shop that will do it right, and not half @ss my car. Does anyone have any recommendations. I am at Fort Meade MD.

WHat would cause it after a year to jump out of adjustment??? It has ran really good for about a year now, and it just started yesterday.

These transmissions are prone to dirt infecting the valve body and
govenor. A tiny piece of grit will cause a valve in the valve body to "hang up". causing erratic shifting.
This is the first place to look. Good Luck

Could you elaborate on that a little. I really don't know that much about transmissions. If you could give me some instructions, that would be great. Can I check this stuff with it still in the car. WIll it eventually pass through or what. Anyone ever try that seafoam that is suppose to clean your transmission???

but may be allowing trans fluid to pass thru unfiltered.
Some of the cheap ones do this.
If your not trans literate, probabily better to get a trans tech to do it.
You can download "Shift Kit" instructions to see instruction and diagrams on your valve body from TCI and or B&M
Do a search on th700r4 and shifting in the trans board and on the internet. Tons of info and pics there.
