Oil for 92firebird
Just looking to do my first oil change in this car(92 firebird 3.1L V6) im wondering what the perfered oil to use is the car has alot of miles(114,000) and I dont know how well the other owners took care of it.

I don't think you should have a problem with conventional 5-30w oil as a synthetic isn't needed fro your application. Thats all we use on high mileage vehicles at the dealership I work at. I think that high mileage stuff is all a bunch of crap.
10w-30, and if it's really freezing there 5w. As far as brand...i've always had great luck with castrol gtx. I used it in my old beater had 280k on it before it got crashed, engine never burned or leaked. My mom's van uses it, 180k and no problems with the engine.
The real question is...how well has the previous owner paid attention to the oil changes? It's a pretty strong possibility the damage has already done. If so, all you could hope to do with regular oil changes is clean the sludge up some.
