Removing Air Injection hookups.
Removing Air Injection hookups.
The Air Injection system is taken out of my 82 Trans Am (305) and Im running Straight pipes. The pump and hoses are all gone but the injection hookups (dont know what they are called) are still attached to the manifolds. And you can hear exhaust putters coming up through them. So I stuffed peices of rags in the openings to block them up (Im from Florida) .
What I want to know is should I go ahead and take them off? Will it give me power to take them off?,and if so how do I plug the holes properly. Thanks in advance.
I posted this on the exhaist board to.

The holes in the manifold can be plugged with pipe threaded metal plugs. There's a check valve in the tubing. After it's shot (sound like it is) hot exhaust flows thru the pipes making them very hot. I wouldn't leave a rag in there. It could catch on fire.
You won't see any power difference, but it will look a lot better!

They're 1/4" flare plugs. NPT plugs won't work. The picture below shows why. Menards or Lowe's will have them. You want brass.
