Got A Q For The Cali Smog Guys. All Opinions Welcome! Need Help!!
Ok heres the deal, for some reason in the state of california they make u do some rediculous things for smog. Everything on my car is smog legal. Heres the question- I did a Tpi swap and now I need to smog are they gonna hassle me for this? I have all the emmisions hoses and what not hooked up and it doesnt set any trouble codes and im pretty sure that I can pass the sniffer test. the thing is I have the headers for a regular RS with TBI and it has the heat riser pipe on the driver side header, will they give me crap about that or will they realize that its not really emmisions related. heres the other option, I cut the heat riser tube off and get some header jackets from summit so they cant see it and then when I go in for smog I just pull the one back that they need to see the CARB # and fool those bastards. LOL tell me what ya think!!

You won't fail for that. Odds are, they won't even notice that it's there; and since it isn't required to be hooked up in the sysem (TPI) that's in there, it won't matter even if they do notice it. If they give you carp, just go to a different inspection place.
As long as the system you put in shows to be available in a car of your year or newer, and all its parts & pieces are in place, then it will be OK. So if your car is 90 or newer, it needs to be a S/D TPI, can't be a MAF. Given that, and if it passes the sniffer test, you should have no problems at all.
