question on engine. . .

Ok, first off, this is about my 1991 Ford Ranger 2.3 litre engine. I lost control of my truck and it went baralling into a 6 foot deep ditch that was filled with snow, and snow was packed everywhere in the engine compartment. Well a dodge 2500 pulled me out and the engine wouldnt start. It wanted to, but wouldnt. I pop hood and the hole compartment is full of snow. I brush out all i can and try again, no luck. I waited about an hour and tried starting it. It started, but took awhile. It is running really rough and exhaust sounds like shi*. There is a ping/ scraping noise coming from the engine. What do you guys think it is? Im thinking maybe the timing is off abit, or the snow cracked the block. What do you think. Yes i know its not a camaro, but if ya think about it, i was driving the truck so i wouldnt wreck my camaro. So, just think of it like that Thanks for help/ tolerance,
Andy
