What is this plug on the transmission for?

hey this isnt my car but i have the same thing. What is that wire that is coming off that plug into the tranny for?! i have the same thing but i dont have any wires coming out. i think its for the reverse lights...

Thats what it is for. The reverse lights. I beleive it is called the "Reverse light switch"

is the wiring for that part sold anywherE?? how hard would it be to hook up if i got a new plug and wire? Or does it just go to the fuse box.

hehe funny you mention this...

I had to get the plug for my IROC not too long ago. I went to Pep Boys and got a male 2 pin connector and a pack of male pins (I think thats what it is. The wires come from the Netural saftey switch from under the center console.. I beleive they are the dark green and blue wires that goto it. (it is the 2 middle ones)

I ran some speaker wire from them 2 wires (with solidering the connections and heat shirinking them) down do the side of the tranny. Put the pins on it, then assemebled the connector. Pluged it into the tranny and whoo hoo! I have reverse lights.
