Which Vortec manifold?

I'm building an engine (either 350 or 383) with Vortec Heads and a single Holley 750 carb. I want to use a standard 14" airfilter housing. I haven't selected a manifold yet and I'm looking for input to help me decide which one to get. I'd like to be over 400HP. this is a street/strip car so it needs to have some road manners and I'm looking at cams with lift numbers around .525 and durations in the 210/220 range

are there any that won't clear the stock hood? (too tall?)
are some better than others? why?

Thanks
marc

The Performer RPM is probably what you want, but it won't fit unless you use a drop-base aircleaner base. No big deal with a drop base and a 14x3 airfilter. I'm running that on my Vortec 350. I don't think the Victor Jr (or is it Super Victor?) for vortecs will fit either (probably wouldn't fit even with the drop base aircleaner setup, not sure). About the only thing that will fit is the standard Edelbrock Performer, which will cost you a few ponies vs the RPM intake...

The performer rpm is the intake you want.
It will fit under hood with a drop base air cleaner.
The best one is the one used on 60's 70's corvettes and
camaros.
The cam is too small for 400hp get one with 218 to 226@.050
duration. It will still have good street manors.

The performer is lower but will not make as much top end power.

As an alternative, check out Professional Products
stuff.

They have 3 vortec intakes available.

The GM aircleaner base looks like this ----

You can still buy it from restoration sources
Allows a 14x2.5" filter with room to spare.
