302 Blocks

How much do virgin 3970010 blocks sell for? (This is the 1969 Z28 302 4 bolt main motor). How much if it has been bored .030 over already?
Thanks
Brady

3970010 is one of the most common of all 350 blocks. Lots and lots of them came in trucks especially, all the way through the 70s; truck ones were usually 4-bolt-main.

Check the casting date. Out of all possible 010 blocks, probably less than one-tenth of one percent were 302s.

I don't think there was any way to discern 302 blocks from the other sizes that used 010 blocks, was there?
Looks like the smilie in your sig has bad gas, or something.

if the VIN pad is still present with the numbers there is a 2 digit code for car/trans combo...I got a 67 350 not to long ago, we had a heck of a time figuring out what it was from at first. Also 302 blocks will be long pad blocks, meaning the pad that the VIN sits on is about 3.5 inches as comparred to 2.5 for the later blocks

correct...I should explain about that long pad stuff, thats to all older( I think pre 73) blocks...but yes the 302, 327 and 350 from 1969 all used the same casting number, not too sure on the 67 and 68 Z's
