question about registration

When I bought the 89 RS in Sept. it read 86000 on the odemeter.I thought thae milage sounded really good so I questioned it.The title showed it having 50022 when she bought it in 2000.
Now here's where the problem comes in.A few weeks ago I took advantage of the free carfax weekend and it turns out it has 186000 miles!Apparently in 1998 it left Kentucky for Indiana and in the process it lost 100000 miles. This wasnt a roleback, theres only 5 digits on the odemeter,it just got lost in the paperwork between states.
Now my registation is due, should I correct the mistake?

I refuse to participate in that crap. I always answer "mileage unknown". You have no way of knowing that the odometer is right, or that it isn't 286,000 miles.
