i need help???

i got the camaro out today and i was on my way home and noticed it was cutting out when i slowed down to stop at a light(not terribly bad but enought to definately notice), it idled fine and accellerated fine but then it started cutting out idling and backfired once when it cut out, but still accellerates fine and stays running when i keep my foot in it. i thought maybe fuel pump or a problem with the carb??
what are the symptoms of a bad fuel pump (mechanical)??

no, its been sitting since last sunday, i dont think that is long enough to mess up the gas. i put some new gas in it too today.

could it possiblly have to do with too much fuel in the bowls? (like a float set too high?)

Float height too high or low will cause issues, either flooding the engine or starving it of fuel.

Symptoms of a bad fuel pump are no gas in the bowl(s), easy to diagnose by blipping the throttle arm w/ the engine off and verifying fuel squirts out the accelerator pump nozzles. If your carb's dry, no squirting will happen.

Go pop the hood and see what's up.

my float level i think is too high, i have a holley 4160 and i was told that w/ the float level you should see fuel just barely at the bottom of the sight plug, i can see it sitting about in the middle of the sight. getting flooded makes sense but what i dont get is if my float has been set like that since i had that carb rebuilt and has been running fine, y did it just decide to start running crappy yesterday? hmmmmm
