Transmission: World Class T5
Axle/Gears: 10-bolt, 4.10 gears
Advice on my situation.
Ok. I know everyone likes to dog the 305. I know that in the 350 Vs. 305 argument that the 350 is king. That having been said. What would you do in my situation?
I have no garage.
I want to get to the low 13's or high 12's with my car.
I want to keep it street legal.
I want to keep it N/A as much as possible.
I want the best bang for my buck.
I already have a good low miles 305.
I lack many of the tools needed for an engine swap.
I was thinking of building up my 305. Cam, heads maybe, rockers, pistons, ported plenum, siamesed runners, and possibly converting my setup for a super/charger setup. (Distant future plans). Definatley going to get new gears and work on the drivetrain.
My goal is high 12's low 13's. Can I do this on a 305 without NOS?
My thinking is partially going twords keeping the 305 because I already have it. And I need to buy parts and items a bit at a time. I can buy the parts for the 305 and get performance sooner than if I buy a 350 and build it up.
For my goals should I wait for the 350 or can I do this with what I have?

if you're changing pistons you might as well swap engines. you can rent a lot of the specalized tools and equipment. a 350 is cheaper to do so for the same amount of jack you can have a 350.
i'd buy a 350 builder block and work on it and then when it's ready to go do the engine swap. you can do all the suspension and drive train upgrades you want and that money and time won't be wasted.
