Fuel Pump Question
Fuel Pump Question
Well i want to change the fuel pump on my 89. I beleive it is one of the problems w/ my car right now. Cuz when i go wide open throttle it stalls and studders and besides that im gonna be getting some vortec heads in the near future. However, im not very good with cars(some of my posts prolly show that)but i was just wondering where the fuel pump would be and what kind i would need to get. Its an 89 rs but all the ocmputer stuff has been deleted. Is the pump in the tank. and if it is can i put on a mechanical one and jsut unplug the fuse to the one in the tank? What esle will i need besies the fuel pump. Like overs and such? I plan on getting the Mr. Gasket Chrome street fuel pump. Any replies are aprreciated

Fuel pump is in the tank.Would require removing the tailpipe/muffler and if I remember correctly the pipe before the
muffler unless it can be swung or hung out of the way.An external f.p. would work also, but will prabably be considerably
noise.Strongly advise to get a genuine g.m. stock pump if your intentions are to keep it internally.Aftermarket from what I've seen are noise and do'nt seem to last as long.
