85 to 87 distributor differences, LT1 intake swap
this might be a little confusing, but i've got two cars, an 85 sport coupe thats currently carbed with no computer or emmissions equipment and an 85 iroc thats TPI. I'm in the process of converting the sport coupe to an LT1 intake. To my understanding, i'm required to run a divorced coil distributor on the LT1 intake. The 85 iroc donor, however, has an in-cap distributor. The wiring harness and ecm from the iroc is going to be used for the injection of the sport coupe. So what i need to know is do computer controlled in-cap and divorced coils share the same wiring or am i going to have to do alot of wiring? Will it work at all?

They have the same wiring, just different connectors for 12V and tach. Get the right ones off of a car with the later style dist and splice them onto your existing wires; or better yet, make an adapter out of them, so you can just plug it in without cutting anything on your car.
I see you're taking the rocky 1985 road to the LT1 like I did. I just cut a spliced the wires and mounted the coil to the firewall. The wires are short so its going to be a PITA. Good luck with the rest of the swap and have fun with you're alternator bracket.
