Cam's For A 400 small block

I have an 87' Trans Am and im going to put a 400 small block in it soon and i want to know, or get some ideas, on cam's. I wanna have this car run mid 13's be able to have this for a street driver also.

what gearing???

is this going to be a daily driver that has to pass emssion?

Start with something like an comp XE274

it has 3.10 gears and what would change if i had to get it checked??

a milder cam profile might be required depending on emission. Something like a comp XE268 MIGHT pass.. but the 274 would probably not.

3.10 gear is pretty strange.. most were 3.08..
I would go with a 268 probably.

you didnt say what your doin about heads so that will play a role aswell..
for a daily drivin 400 id say get a cam that would be "hot" for a 350...

ive seen a few dynos of different 400s using a cam with less the .500 lift makin 450+ horse...

if your worried about emissions then go with smogger headers, hi-flow cat and a 4 inch exhaust
