Positive things from our 383-great numbers

Went and got our 383 last Fri. from Spere's in Cedar Rapids, very good guys working there and super informative when asked questions. Anyways aside from racing my car in Pro class, we're building another truck to run the Super Pro class 92 S-10 tubed, race only etc...they broke in the motor and started making pulls getting it fine tuned. What suprised my was we had a base 750HP carb on the intake making 530hp, stuck on a 2" 4 hole that tapered into and open and bumped it up 20hp, then finagled with the timing and got the best pull of 505 lb/tq. and 532hp, not too bad for an 11:1 small block. Tried bigger carb cause everybody at our track was having super results bolting on the infamous 950HP last season-typical .4 drop in E.T. in the 1/4, so we tried slapping that on. Once we got the power vavle and jets correct we tried it w/ 1.5" tapered 4 hole and 2 " tapered 4 hole and actually LOST hp on the top end starting around 6800rpm, torque came in quicker and it changed the curve a little bit, but the overall sacrifice was not worth the money and lost hp that we got with the 750hp. Here's a couple shots I took while down there. Once we get it done it "should" run deep 10's and if we go up a little in the rear gear ratio high 9's, but we're planning on 10's so we can get away from the added expense of single digit 1/4's-until next season

I need to try and save the actual tech sheet under a different setting, I got it shrunk down so small that ya can't make heads or tails of what it says and the board is still telling me it's too large to down load. If people are interested I'll get on it, but otherwise I'll forget about it. Just a bunch of numbers telling the same thing I already posted-sorry.
