Speed sensing
Can I use the electronic speed output signal from my 82 speedometer to provide speed info to a 87 TPI computer?
As long as the pulses-per-revolution (maybe 1 to 1?) is the same, seems like it would work.

I thought the 82 used no VSS input....But if you grab a later dash (85 TPI to later dashes that used a cable.... I think to 91 camaro, but not Firebird) that still used the cable driven speedo that has VSS optical sensor, or converted the trans fully to electronic input (no cable) with the VSS speed buffer and all the related wiring it would work.
I'm not sure of any other differences in the dashes (VATS, airbags, change of pinout....) so get good info on the wiring.

I'm pretty sure the 82 speedo sends a speed signal to the ECM.
The reason I think that is because I had the speedo cable break once and the torque converter clutch wouldn't engage after that happened. After replacing the speedo cable, the TCC started working normally again.
