Guy's please tell me how to check for right timing tab (pointer)

I have a new replacment 350, and new replacemnet balancer from summit 6.somthing inches, and a balancer cover, I need to know how do I tell if I have the correct timing pointer on the car. The pointer that is on it now sits right up aganist the balancer and sits on the drivers side of the motor. Should it be there or straight yp on the timing chaine cover. I am not sure if I have it in the right spot or not. thanks alot joe The motor is a gm replacment 350

All the GM crate motors that I've installed are timed at the drivers side location.

I'm not sure if all GM crate engines are there, just all the ones I've done are.

Everytime I put a crate motor in I buy a new balancer because the stock balancer doesn't time in the correct spot.
