i messed it up

i took off the stock air cleaner on my 305 TBI L03 thirdgen and i forgot to plug one of the vacuum lines. anyway, it ran mad rich until the plugs totally got fouled and carbon covered and wouldnt run. i replaced the plugs but i get SES lights which im thinkin has to do with the huge amounts of carbon thats in my engine. anyone ever done this? and how do i fix it. i heard spraying a little water into the intake (like mist or something) helps get rid of the carbon or is that not even my problem. thanks
