Air Bag light came on while driving, then went off...

Hey

I have a 1990 IROC-Z... I just bought it 5 days ago and everything seemed to be fine. When I start it up, the INFL REST light flashes several times and then goes off. Well... today I was driving down the road, and I decided to get on it kinda hard... the INFL REST light started flashing and would NOT stop. So, I turned off the car... When I turned it back on, the light did it's self testing flashes again and then went off... Everything SEEMS fine again. What caused it to come on when I was driving and how can I fix it?

-Thanks

It's very unlikely, but remotely possible that you had an intertia switch actuation. It's more likely that you had an intermittent failure of the VSS or the wiring from it. From what I have been able to determine, you'll need a Tech-1 or similar proprietary technology scanner to read the error codes.
