HELP!!

This sucks guys, my passenger side valve cover is leaking on my Iroc. I tried to change the gasket but when I got to the back valve cover bolt the damn thing was rounded out inside. The center bolt valve covers take a star socket but it looks like the previous owner also tried to change the gasket. Do you guys have any ideas on how to get the bolt out? I can't get any leverage on the bolt because it is in a tight spot. Thanks

order up a new bolt and a left hand drill bit (if you can find them they work awesome for getting out rounded bolts) drill the head off the bolt pull the valve cover off being carefull not to get chips into the motor, turn the bolt out using a pair of vicegrips clean the gasket surfaces real good and put it back togther.

You might want to take it to your local muffler shop and have them MIG a nut or something to the remains of the bolt head, so you can get a socket on it.

Perhaps you can grip the head of the screw/bolt with vice grips.

If not, perhaps just putting a groove in the head with a Dremel type tool or a hacksaw, and then use a slotted screwdriver to remove it.

If there is not enough room for a hacksaw to cut a slot on the head, then just use a hacksaw blade to cut a slot on the head of the screw.
