questions about head machining....

ok.. i have decided to buy a l98 shortblock and go over my 383 when i get some extra dough...... right now things are tight and i have to get a gm so i can make payments on it.....

i have afr 190's that i want to get milled to 64cc so that i can keep the compression resonable to have good thermal effecincy.....

do you think that 9.3 to 9.5:1 is ok with a comp xe282hr cam and aluminum heads? would i need say about 10:1 to compensate for the lumpy cam?

i figured 9:1 would be resonable and let me run some good timing on 93 and avoid detonation.......

whats your thoughts?

ooh

i' a factory l98 shortblock new from gm... i figured i'd go ahead and get it, and work on the 383 when money permits.. that way i would have a spare engine ready to go......

i was kinda worried about piston to valve clearence also...... when you cut the head you are letting the valve get closer to the piston.. aibet not real close but closer......

i figured with a 64cc chamber, and a felpro 1003 head gasket, the compression would come in right around 9.5:1..... well in the limits for 93 octane and a 100 shot of nitrous...

i wouldn't machine heads as a way to raise compression, i'd also not run a power adder on a stock l98 short block.
