Having a bad day(please help)
I finally decided to swap in a holley 750 for my 600.As usual a
simple swap never goes as planned. The larger fuel bowl hit the
vaccum fitting in the intake, the dual feed line hit the EGR and the fuel line had to be cut.Anyway after buying an EGR block-off ,
plugging the vacuum port,I took off the top alternater bracket
to get at the fuel line,I removed the plug on the alternater and
rotated it out of the way. After cutting and reattatching the fuel
line I put the alt. back on and fired up the car.Problem is now the belt squeels so bad I can`t even run the car.I have loosened
and tightened the belt 5 times now and everytime it squeels.
Some of the alt. wires are very brittle but I tried to be careful
and when it is running the alt. is charging.Should I buy a newbelt the old one never made a sound before?could I have broken
a wire (how could this make it squeel),is it an alignment problem(it`s all the same stuff)

I use a long screwdriver to get some leverage on the alt. and then tighten the bolt on the bracket. you may not have it tight enough. On the other hand, how old is the belt? It's a good idea to replace those before they leave you stranded.
