hmmm
id liek to know the answer to that also. my guess is if it did it all the time that maybe the intake on it an dthe cam werent that good for after half throttle.
I can relate to something similar...
the 700R4's stock from the factory only have a lifetime of about
102K miles, then they start to fail, generally symptoms of
failure is 'slippage'. or basically where the car stops pulling, but
the rpm's climb quickly.
The slippage I experience is between gears, between a shift
(automatic transmissions). if I've punched the gas and I ride
it all the way till the shift, it'll redline the tach, and slip craizly,
though all the gears.
if you're pushing it 3/4ths the way down, and it's not ready to
shift, then it might downshift, which is where the slippage comes
in.
just depends, 102K miles is average lifespan for a 700R4, getting
them rebuilt only delays the problem for a short period, you're
better off getting a TCI streetfighter tranny or something similar
which is built with performance in mind.
this is all automatic transmissions, btw.

on them)

It sounds like a tranny problem. If you had someone else install it I would take it back to have it checked out.
Does it rev smoothly when in 'Park'?
